Shakespeare Theatre Company, located in downtown Washington DC, seeks an Audio/Video Engineer to join our four-person Audio/Video team. Under the supervision of the Audio/Video Supervisor, the Audio/Video Engineer will be responsible for the day-to-day audio/video operations in our two theatres. The primary duty of this role is the set-up and operation of audio/video equipment for all of STC+rsquo;s theatrical performances, plus any other rentals or internal events that occur in STC+rsquo;s spaces. Typical activities will include programming digital audio consoles during rehearsals; audio mixing, operation of audio and video playback systems, load-in and load-out of audio/video equipment, and basic equipment maintenance and care. Additionally, the Audio/Video Engineer may be called upon to perform +ldquo;A2+rdquo; duties such as fitting wireless microphones to performers and maintaining them during performances. This is a full-time position with excellent benefits and a pay rate of $27.16 per hour.
A bachelor+rsquo;s degree in Theatre, Audio or Video Production, or equivalent professional experience and training, is required. An additional 1-2 years of professional experience as an A1/FOH mixer or audio/video technician is strongly preferred. In all cases, experience should include an understanding of the theatrical production process, audio/video signal flow, digital audio console programming and operation, wireless microphone use, closed circuit video systems, and wired/wireless intercom systems. Additionally, candidates with proven experience as an A1/FOH mixer of voice and music for a variety of musical and performance styles are encouraged to apply. This position will be regularly required to lift up to 25lbs, and occasionally up to 50lbs. Flexibility and the ability to work evenings and weekends is essential. This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement between STC and IATSE Local 22.
