The Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire is seeking applicants to work as weekend stage managers for the upcoming faire season. The Faire opens the 3rd weekend in August and runs through the last weekend of October. Pay is $125 per day of performances, $14 per hour for other contracted work hours.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire in Manheim, PA is seeking applicants to work as weekend stage managers for the upcoming Celtic Fling weekend and 2025 Renaissance Faire season. We are an outdoor rain-or-shine festival running from August through October. PARF is located on the grounds of the historic Mount Hope Estate, spanning 36 acres, with 9 outdoor stages. Stage managers are responsible for running all acts/performances scheduled on their assigned stage(s) each weekend.
DATES:
Celtic Fling is a one-weekend event on June 28th and June 29th. Stage managers will be called from approximately 8:30am-8:00pm. No tech days are required.
Renaissance Faire show dates are every Saturday and Sunday from August 16th +ndash; October 26th, 2025. Stage managers will be called from 9:00am-7:30pm. Tech rehearsals will occur during the week of August 7th +ndash; August 15th. Stage managers will not be at any pre-tech rehearsals.
Additional weekday dates (finalized details will be given at least a month in advance):
-Sound school: one 4-5 hour paid training workshop in early August, prior to tech. This will be scheduled with pre-existing conflicts in mind.
-School days: Wednesday, October 8th and Thursday, October 9th, approximately 8am-2:30pm
-Halloween joust tech: one weekday evening in early October. Tentatively October 8th, 5:30pm-9:30pm
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage individual stage(s) during show days:
-Set up and shutdown of physical stages and sound equipment
-Mic actors and run sound during performances (on-the-job training provided)
-Ensure shows are running safely and on time
-Assist with change overs of performances
-Serve as a communication liaison between performers, PSM, and other departments as needed
Assist with Ultimate Joust:
-Prep the stage by sweeping and hanging flags
-Backstage safety support for high-falls and pyrotechnics
-Fire sound or light cues
-Backstage audio support
Help prepare the shire venue for show days:
-Preparative tasks such as hanging flags, delivering water, uncovering speakers
-Closing tasks such as covering crash pads, turning off house music
QUALIFICATIONS:
This is a physically demanding job and applicants should be prepared to work outside, rain or shine. Temperatures will range from the upper 90s in July to the mid-30+rsquo;s in October. You will be in costumed. We do make sure you are comfortable and can work in your costume. Applicants should be comfortable working both independently and within a groups.
COMPENSATION:
Pay will be $125 per faire day, plus $14 an hour for work outside of faire days.
