Job Title: Audio Visual Engineer

Compensation Rate: $810/wk

Position Summary
Barter Theatre seeks an Audiovisual Engineer to be a part of the sound department. Primary responsibilities include live mixing theatrical performances, programming QLab, recording, setting up and maintaining the audio and video systems, and coordinating with the Resident Sound Designer to fulfill the needs of the theatre. This position reports to the Resident Sound Designer. Together, the Resident Sound Designer and Audiovisual Engineer create and support the audio and visual needs for all productions in each of our performances spaces and tours.
Responsibilities
- Mix live performances, including musicals and events, ensuring a balanced and high-quality auditory experience
- Maintain all audio and video equipment
- Provide audio/video support for Theatre+rsquo;s production season including, but not limited to: headsets, back stage and FOH monitoring, assisted listening, and open caption systems
- Attend all technical rehearsals and previews as necessary
- Work with Music Director to provide band support
- Provide audio visual support for special events
- Oversee the setup, operation, and strike of sound systems for rehearsals and performances
- Assist Guest Sound Designers
- Record voice overs, sound effects, announcements, etc.
- Maintain and care for all audio and visual equipment
- Facilitate sound needs for the Barter Players
- Assist Resident Sound Designer with other departmental needs
- The ideal candidate will also be able to design sound for occasional productions
Qualification + Experience
- BA/BFA or MFA in technical theatre with an emphasis on sound and at least 2 years experience in a professional performing arts environment OR a minimum of 4 years acting as an Audiovisual Engineer in a professional performing arts environment
- Strong knowledge of Allen and Heath DLive console, X32/M32 console, live mixing of 40+ channels, QLab, Dante networking
- Basic knowledge of NDI/SDI and other video protocols for setting up and maintaining the IR, monitoring, camera, and projector systems
- Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve
- Ability to remain calm in high paced environments
