From June to September, Dorset Theatre Festival mounts 4 main stage productions, in a charming 300-seat proscenium theatre built from 3 restored pre-revolutionary barns.

Every summer, Dorset Theatre Festival draws from some of this country+rsquo;s most talented playwrights, actors, and directors to launch new plays that go on to national acclaim, mount regional premieres to bring the best of Off-Broadway to Vermont, and incubate emerging playwrights and artists.

About the Position:
Dorset Theatre Festival seeks a Carpenter for its 2025 summer season. Employment dates run May 27th through about September 11th.

Under the direction of the Technical Director, Assistant Technical Director, and Lead Carpenter, the Carpenter is responsible for safely and efficiently working on the build, installation, and strike of four sets. The Carpenter will be an excellent teammate, and have the desire to take on more challenging projects, independently, as the summer progresses.

A minimum of 1 year of carpentry experience and knowledge of scenic shop safety and operation protocols is required. Must be able to lift 75 lbs. and confidently work from heights.

Ideal candidates will have strong collaboration, communication, basic knowledge in construction and rigging, and be able to maintain a safe and supportive environment while working on a tight timeline. The ideal candidate is patient, and willing to learn.

Compensation:
Salary is $500-550/week DOE; single occupancy bedroom in a shared house for the summer season.
