Description:

The Events A/V Technician plays a critical role at Juilliard as support for general AV tasks across myriad events at the institution, including performances, lectures, recitals, presentations, experimental shows, panels, speaker series, and more.

The individual in this role executes the technical and physical requirements of on-site event support including TV monitor usage, laptop operations and connections, microphones for speaking, amplification, music/video playback, projector use, and other related technologies.

This unique position collaborates in support of teams in different departments and divisions who produce events in many spaces across campus, working to understand the needs of each unique event and charting a successful path for event execution.

They should be able to interact professionally with high-profile artists, students, faculty, distinguished guests, and more. Troubleshooting in real time is key to this position+rsquo;s success.

The nature of this work is event-based, so on-site requirement for this position involves evening and weekend hours outside of regular hours.

This is a seasonal, 42-week position with a salary range of $55,000 - $57,000. This role is temporary until the end of the Academic Year, with a tentative end date of June 12, 2025.

Role Responsibilities:

Execute AV functions of institutional events as required including but not limited to:
Projector/TV monitor systems
Audio/Visual playback
Laptop operation/connection
Speaking mics
Zoom/webinar functions and other streaming services such as MS Teams and Panopto
Coordinate with producers across events to anticipate and execute event needs.
Coordinate and collaborate with other technical staff within the community to ensure needs are met for all events.
Coordinate equipment use with appropriate departments.
Set up and operate a variety of AV systems including TV/projectors, mixing boards, microphones, speakers, projectors, video monitors, etc.
Understand signal flow for audio, video, camera functions, livestream, webinar, and related technologies.
Participate in production meetings for events and performances, anticipating needs and workshopping solutions within realistic resources.
Identify any potential risks with an event and identify a solution or collaborate with others to implement a solution to ensure a successful event.
Provide routine maintenance tasks to keep equipment in good condition and keep detailed records on all equipment.
Keep detailed record of maintenance/user feedback and anticipate equipment end-of-life or upgrade needs.
Foster a client-focused approach, showcasing positive communication skills in all interactions. Demonstrate positive interpersonal skills with colleagues, faculty, students and artists, ensuring effective and positive collaboration.
Perform additional duties as assigned which may include general support of Electrics and/or Sound teams across all spaces.


Requirements:

Experience with performing arts and event operations is necessary
Strong technical A/V knowledge
Ability to work nights and weekends as required by pre-planned season schedule
Detail oriented, organized, and strong communication skills
Ability to work with many personalities simultaneously, harmoniously, and collaboratively
