Costume Shop Supervisor
Ogunquit Playhouse, Ogunquit, Maine seeks an experienced Costume Shop Supervisor for our 2025 Season and Arts Academy productions. Approximate dates of employment between April and December 2025.
Ideal Candidate: Must be detail-oriented and remain focused in a fast-paced working environment with some non-traditional hours. This strategic position is responsible for the coordination of all costumes in Ogunquit Playhouse's season, with some design opportunities, while developing and maintaining a cognitive and cohesive shop staff.
Job Duties/Expectations include (but are not limited to):
- Supervise entire shop staff including Assistant Costume Shop Supervisor, Stitchers, and overhires.
- Oversee all in-house built pieces.
- Act as Costume Coordinator for any rental packages.
- Maintenance of budget and purchase/return reconciliation.
- Arrange/attend fittings and take notes.
- Travel as necessary for fittings during New York City rehearsal processes.
- Work in collaboration with guest designers, creative teams, and production crew for ultimate show appearance.
- Note shows during tech processes.
- Assist load-in/load-out, packing, and organization of costumes or rental packages for each run.
- Supervise purchasing of costume shop materials, supplies and equipment.
- Manage and update costume inventories for Playhouse rentals and stock items.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and positive working environment.
- Develop paperwork, in collaboration with Wardrobe Supervisor, for each show including look lists, costume/scene breakdown and entrance/exit and quick-change plots.
- Hands-on costume maintenance during each show's run.
- Assist with Arts Academy as needed.
- Job requires ability to sit/stand for long periods of time, and bend, stoop, or kneel while assisting actors, staff, and designer in execution of duties as assigned.
- Job requires ability to lift, carry, move costumes and necessary equipment up and down stairs in varied lighting conditions.
- Unconventional hours may be required.
Position is a W2, $25/hr plus O/T and housing included.

Ogunquit Playhouse will now be offering Health insurance to all employees who are with the company for 120+ consecutive days and work at least 30 hours weekly. Ogunquit Playhouse will cover 75% of employee's company sponsored Health insurance premium. Dental and Vision insurance will also be available at the employee's expense. Employees who work the entire Ogunquit Playhouse's entire season will also accrue Earned Paid Leave up to 40 hours. Eligibility is based on the length of the contract. Shortening the length of that contract may affect eligibility.
