Production Assistant/Pipe and Drape Tech
The Concerts from the Library of Congress is seeking a qualified Production Assistant to support the landmark series. Available production dates below.
ABOUT:
For a century, a community of art lovers has grown around the concerts and special events offered at the incomparable Coolidge Auditorium at the Library of Congress. Providing a breadth of offerings, including classical chamber music, jazz, popular, and traditional music, the Library is a place where world-class music can be found flourishing in an acoustically superb space. Concerts from the Library of Congress continues to celebrate a over century of landmark concerts, offering a rich and diverse kaleidoscope of classical music, jazz, pop, folk and dance events, with a major focus on contemporary American voices across genres.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES + RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Production Assistant will work directly with production and stage management to facilitate rehearsals and performances in the historic Coolidge Auditorium housed in the Thomas Jefferson Building of the Library of Congress.
● Deploy and strike pipe + drape
● Assist the Master Electrician and Production Stage Manager
● Assist in the load-in, hang, circuit, focus, and strike of production electrics as directed.
● Assist in the load-in, set up, and strike of backline and other production elements as needed.
● Set up and maintain the hospitality area
● Set up and organize backstage
● Shopping rehearsal needs
● Set up and organize production elements (including, but not limited to, setting chairs, music stands, and instruments as needed)
● Maintain production schedule.
Secondary Responsibilities:
Assist the house manager, if needed, with some house/seating related issues.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND EXPERIENCE:
● MUST have ladder experience/knowledge of and demonstrated experience in high work (12').
● MUST have high level knowledge of and demonstrated experience in stage management.
● MUST have excellent interpersonal, organizational, collaborative, and communication skills.
● MUST have experience with live performance or live-to-tape television production (ideally music, theatre, or concerts).
● Ability to safely lift up-to 50 lbs. with assistance, 25 lbs. unassisted.
● Ability to read, hang, and circuit from lighting plots.
● proficiency with ETC Eos environment
● Demonstrated ability to solve problems, organize, and plan to achieve goals
● Working knowledge of the following is not required, but helpful
● Theatrical rigging
● Low voltage work
● Ability to show up on time consistently with a positive attitude
