SUMMARY
The Lighting / Technical Supervisor (LTS) reports directly to the Technical Director (TD) and provides oversight of all lighting activities in support of the mission of The Atlanta Opera (TAO). The LTS actively manages the lighting operations and provides administrative support for the Production Department.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following duties in addition to other duties as assigned.
+bull; Liaison with Lighting Designers for light plot and specifications, providing necessary information (ground plans, inventory lists, preliminary schedules, etc....).
+bull; Draft plots to TAO standards.
+bull; Advise on the feasibility of design, in consultation with TD and the head electrician for venue limitations, inventory, budget, schedule, and other special concerns.
+bull; Plan electric hang, focus, and cueing in consultation with TD and head electrician.
+bull; Make orders for lighting equipment (rental gear, expendables, special equipment, etc....).
+bull; In coordination with TD manage electrics budget.
+bull; Working with the head electrician, supervises the hanging of all lights and lighting equipment.
+bull; Supervise focus.
+bull; Attend all services with Lighting Designer.
+bull; Call follow spot cues as necessary.
+bull; Attend all performances, watching the production from FOH to ensure the preservation of the LX design, taking notes, and fixing/adjusting for any failures.
+bull; In coordination with the head electrician create and maintain all TAO lighting equipment (owned, rented, or borrowed).
+bull; In coordination with TD and the head electrician maintain all communication equipment (clear-com headsets, two-way radios, etc....) as well as additional requests from other departments as they arise.
+bull; Coordinate with TD and the head electrician to supervise the audio/visual technician in venue.
+bull; Advise and/or provide technical support for lighting at special events or functions.
+bull; Works in-person and remotely, in agreement with TD, to ensure all assigned tasks and needs are fulfilled.
+bull; Fully document all productions, from development through performances, maintaining up-to-date documentation and video/photo records.
+bull; Oversee the management of TAO Infrastructure including networking, power, and tech tables.
COMPETENCIES + QUALIFICATIONS
+bull; Excellent written and oral communication and problem-solving skills.
+bull; Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
+bull; Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously and efficiently.
+bull; Excellent computer skills and aptitude, especially using Microsoft Office Suite, and Adobe Acrobat Suite, as well as the ability to quickly learn new software programs.
+bull; Proficient in digital drafting in Vectorworks.
+bull; ETC Board and dimming knowledge not required but an asset.
+bull; Knowledge of or strong interest in opera preferred.
+bull; Ability to work collaboratively within a production team and with multiple departments.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
+bull; Bachelor+rsquo;s degree in Theatre or related field.
+bull; At least five (5) years+rsquo; work experience in theatrical production with a demonstrated track record of increased responsibility.
+bull; Ability to sit at a desk for up to and over eight hours per day.
+bull; Ability to communicate using a phone and headset.
+bull; Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
+bull; Have a valid driver+rsquo;s license.
+bull; Must perform the functions of the position in a safe manner.
+bull; The position requires evening and weekend obligations during the opera season.
