Rate: $17.00 per hour, time and a half over 40

General Statement of Job Function: The Electrician assists the Lighting Supervisor and Head Electrician in the safe, efficient, and accurate implementation and maintenance of assigned lighting designs for The Norma Terris Theater, and all assigned Goodspeed events and outside projects. The Electrician is also responsible for running a follow-spot for all assigned productions and events.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
-Serve as follow-spot operator for all performances for assigned productions and events.
-Assist Head Electrician with maintaining the integrity of the lighting design and performing pre-show, post-show, and production maintenance responsibilities.
-Assist in the hang, rigging, cabling, focus, and patch of assigned light plots including conventional fixtures, LED fixtures, intelligent fixtures, and practicals.
-Attend and participate in all technical rehearsals, crew calls, technical notes, and performances as assigned.
-Assist Lx Supervisor in load-in and strike of all lighting elements.
-Help with wiring practicals, special effects set-up, and other assigned electrical projects.
-Assist in creating and prepping gel, templates, practicals, and electrical equipment.
-Assist Team Sound with testing clear-com system.
-Assist Head Electrician, Lx Supervisor, and Stage Management with installing and maintaining the cue light system.
-Help maintain all follow spot tracking sheets.
-Maintain a clean, safe, respectful, and collaborative work environment.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:
-Assist in maintaining, managing, and troubleshooting electric equipment, storage spaces, and tools.
-Help the Theatre Manager/facilities department with occasional bulb replacements and minor electrical repairs.
-Assist Lighting Supervisor with providing lighting support for organizational events.
-Teach any replacement/cover follow spot operator their appropriate track.
-Assist in the acquisition of rented and/or purchased lighting equipment.
-Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications + Skills: Experience in theatrical lighting; Ability to lift 50 lbs; Able to repeatedly climb four flights of stairs while carrying 40 pounds; Adequate knowledge of current lighting equipment; Manual dexterity and an aptitude for working with electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems and equipment; Ability to work within tight deadlines; Must be comfortable with ladders and grid work (30 feet high); Able to stand for long durations of time during tech rehearsals and performances; Able to work long hours during heavy load-in and tech periods; Availability nights, weekends, and the occasional Holiday.

Preferred Qualifications + Skills: Strong technical and organizational skills; Experience with LED tape wiring and installation; Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Ability to troubleshoot problems calmly and efficiently under pressure; Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with a wide variety of coworkers at different levels of skill and knowledge; Knowledge of safe rigging practices including dead hung electrics, tail downs, and booms; Valid drivers license with safe driving record.
