About the Position:
The Sound + A/V Manager oversees all sound-related aspects of theater productions, ensuring high-quality audio experiences for both performers and audiences. This role involves managing the sound design process, supervising sound technicians, guest sound artists, interns, and volunteers, coordinating with directors and other production staff, and maintaining audio equipment. Additionally, the Sound + A/V Manager will be responsible for video and camera systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Sound Design + Implementation:
--Lead and supervise a team of sound technicians, engineers, interns, and volunteers within the sound department - all with varied experience and abilities
--Collaborate with directors, designers, and production teams to develop and implement sound designs that enhance the overall production.
--Create and manage sound plots, cue sheets, and other documentation required for sound operation.
--Program and operate sound consoles and related equipment during rehearsals and performances.
--Guide and train student leaders for the implementation of Education programs in the Educational Theater
--Helped recruit professional sound designers from around the country throughout the season, providing leadership and support to each.
--Maintain and manage inventory of all sound equipment and coordinate the rental or purchase of additional equipment as needed.
--Oversee the setup, operation, and maintenance of video, video feed, video design/designers, and camera systems used in theater productions.
--Manage the sound and video department budgets.

Qualifications:
--Experience as a Sound Manager or similar Sound role within theater production.
--Proficiency with sound equipment, including digital and analog sound consoles, playback software, and audio editing tools.
--Strong understanding of acoustics, audio signal flow, and sound reinforcement techniques.
--Experience with video and camera systems, including setup, operation, and maintenance.
--Knowledge of video feed distribution and synchronization with live sound and stage action.
--Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
--Ability to work under pressure and adapt to the dynamic needs of live theater.
--Experience working in with students and volunteers is a plus
--Relevant qualifications or certifications in sound design, audio engineering, video technology, is a plus.

--Logic Pro, QLab, QSC Q-sys, Dante networking, Wavetool, Shure Wireless Workbench, Vectorworks, Clear-com Arcadia/Helixnet, Smaart DI, Yamaha Consoles, Meyer Galaxy processors, ListenEverywhere, Unity intercom, and NDI video.
Working Conditions:
--Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, depending on production schedules.
--Ability to lift and move sound and video equipment as required.
--Willingness to work in varied environments, including theaters, rehearsal spaces, and outdoor venues.
Compensation:
FLSA Classification: Full-Time, exempt
Starting at $55,000, but commensurate with Experience.
