SUMMARY:
The Sound Lead is responsible for the safe, efficient and accurate implementation of all sound needs at North Shore Music Theatre. The Sound Lead is responsible for all stage audio amplification, recording, and monitoring, as well as care and maintenance for all North Shore Music Theatre productions, events, concerts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Work with PM to hire sound staff
* Oversee all budgets regarding sound
* Oversee preparation of plots, hookups and other documents
* Create cost estimates on all shows prior to execution
* Manage storage, maintenance, and inventory of all tools, equipment, and expendables
* Oversee and participate in the Load-In and Strike of Sound Equipment for Main Stage Productions, Education Productions, Concerts, and Events
* Work directly with creative and production staff to deliver sound designer's vision
* Assist the Music Director, Orchestra, and Actor Musicians as needed
* Maintain all sound systems in the theater, backstage, rehearsal spaces, lobby, and courtyard
* Maintain video monitoring system for director cams, and safety camera shots
* Assist the A1 with the programing, playback, mixing, and operation of the sound system for all productions as needed.
* Assist the A2 to perform microphone maintenance, placement/tracking on all vocal artists, and orchestra reinforcement as needed
* Act as back-up and relief for the duties normally assigned to A1 and A2.
* Attend all technical rehearsals and production meetings
* Maintain clean and safe workspaces
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
* Minimum 3-5 years experience with audio for live theater and live mixing.
(experience with theater in the round is great)
* 2 or more year experience in a supervisory role
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
* Advanced skills and knowledge in/of all types of modern theatrical sound
Equipment including digital and analog consoles, wireless RF, effects + signal processors, keyboards, samplers, signal + power distribution and backline.
* Proven supervisory skills and leadership ability
* Ability to work within tight deadlines and budgets
* Experience in creating and monitoring budgets
* Ability to work in a team and maintain a positive attitude.
* Must have strong leadership + interpersonal skills.
* Excellent written + verbal communication abilities
* Strong time management and organizational habits
* Ability to collaborate with fellow staff and freelance artists.
