POSITION DESCRIPTION
- Lead in the creation, purchasing, and rental of all properties elements needed for Skylight Music Theatre's 2026-2027 Season and Broadway Theatre Center events.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Construct or adapt from stock all properties elements for each production and assist in ensuring the safe and timely completion and installation of those elements.
- Lead in procuring, implementing, maintenance, and return of properties from rental houses, other theatres, etc.
- Assist in maintaining a safe, clean workplace in all production areas, including the stage. Perform regular inspection of tools, machinery, stage, and facilities.
- Perform regular checks of inventory and supplies.
- Lead in properties load-in and load-out for all productions in the season, assuring adherence to Skylight safety and procedure policies.
- Maintain all properties elements of the production throughout the performance run.
- Assist in maintaining the Stewart Street warehouse and other stock.
- Assist in inventorying properties at Stewart Street warehouse and other Skylight stock.
- Attend weekly staff meetings, and other meetings as requested.
- Work Collaboratively with Director of Production, Artistic Director, and Designers to help realize the artistic vision as it relates to properties for each production.
- Other duties as assigned by Director of Production
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have BA or BFA in Theatre or comparable professional experience with training in technical theatre production including prop construction.
- Working knowledge of a variety of construction methods, materials and techniques including wood, fabric, metal, and plastics.
- Comprehensive training in the safe operation of stationery and portable power tools, hand tools, stage rigging and equipment.
- Computer proficiency as it relates to technical theatre.
- Familiarity with Vectorworks is a plus
- Ability/willingness to collaborate and work as a team member, while maintaining a positive attitude with a diverse staff through strong verbal and written communication and organizational skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to carry 75 pounds.
- Must be able to climb and work from ladders.
- Must have the vision and dexterity to safely operate stationery and portable power tools, hand tools, stage rigging and equipment.
- This position has irregular hours with regular night and weekend responsibilities.
PAY AND BENEFITS
- Pay: $18 an hour with a 40-hour week at $720; Non-overtime-exempt
