Duties and responsibilities
-Paint and texture scenery
-Mix and match paint colors
-Read and interpret drawings and renderings
-See and communicate color; verbally or with swatches
-Work under deadline pressure
-Communicate with charge artists and peers in a professional and positive manner
-Sew fabric goods and backdrops for scenery
-Supervise and work closely with occasional/overhire employees
Qualifications
-Demonstrate experience in a professional scenery paint shop or similar
-Knowledge of different kinds of paints and chemicals used in scenic art
-Knowledge of proper safety regarding chemical use, handling, and disposing
-Knowledge of tools, brushes, sprayers, stencils etc.
-Drawing skills
-Color theory and paint mixing skills
-Paint and finish wood, steel, plastic and foam scenery, including faux finishes and trompe l'oeil
-Knowledge of different layout techniques on vertical and horizontal surfaces
-Problem solving skills
