From June to September, Dorset Theatre Festival mounts 4 main stage productions, in a charming 300-seat
proscenium theatre built from 3 restored pre-revolutionary barns.

Every summer, Dorset Theatre Festival draws from some of this country+rsquo;s most talented playwrights, actors, and
directors to launch new plays that go on to national acclaim, mount regional premieres to bring the best of
Off-Broadway to Vermont, and incubate emerging playwrights and artists.

About the Position:
Dorset Theatre Festival seeks a Lead Carpenter for its 2024 summer season. Employment dates run May 28th
through about September 12th.
Under the direction of the Technical Director and Assistant Technical Director, the Lead Carpenter is responsible for safely working on the build, installation, rigging, and strike of sets, as well as maintenance of shop/equipment.

The Lead Carpenter will also supervise all scenic carpenters and carpentry assistants.

A minimum of 2 years of carpentry experience, preferably in a supervisory position, and knowledge of scenic
shop safety and operation protocols is required.

Ideal candidate will have strong collaboration, communication, and technical skills, particularly in woodwork and wood construction, and be able to maintain high quality and standards and a safe and supportive work
environment while working on a tight timeline.

Compensation:
Salary is $550-$600/week DOE; single occupancy bedroom in a shared house for the summer season.
