GENERAL JOB STATEMENT: The scenic artist is responsible for working with the Scenic Designer/Coordinator and the Scenic Charge in the laying out, priming, painting, texturing, sculpting, detailing, etc. of all hard scenic items and backdrops.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Interpreting design renderings.
- Mix color based on designer renderings and color-matching based on existing pieces.
- Creation of pounces and stencils.
- Base, primary, and finish painting of all hard pieces of scenery.
- Sculpting and carving of organic foam shapes.
- Laying out and painting of backdrops.
- Assist the props or crafts department on specialty paint projects as requested.
- Touch-up and maintenance of all completed projects.
- Assist in organization and maintenance of workspaces and tools.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace.
- Ability to work within a group.
- Any additional tasks as requested by the Director of Production, Asst. Production Manager, Head of Scenic
Art.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- 2 years+rsquo; experience in scenic art methodologies and practices.
- Demonstrated proficiency and knowledge of painting techniques.
- Ability to be fitted with a respirator.
- Excellent communication, organization, collaborative and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to learn new techniques and methods in given field.
