STAGES St. Louis is a professional musical theatre company entering its 40th Season and is seeking a Youth Supervisor for the 2026 Season production of COME FROM AWAY.
This position is responsible for supervising 4 actors who are minors between the ages of 13 and 17 years old. They will be responsible for developing and maintaining a friendly, supportive, and professional relationship with the youth performers in the production.
The responsibilities of this position are:
- Be the families' primary contact during rehearsals and performances in conjunction with the stage management team.
- Monitor drop-off and pick-up process of child actors with families and be responsible for the safety and well-being of the child actors while on premise.
- Help stage management maintain the schedule with the child actors.
- Assist the young performers with running lines, practicing blocking and choreography, attend fittings, or practicing their music.
- When off-stage ensure the children are appropriately entertained while maintaining awareness for cues and announcements.
- Be familiar with the emergency evacuation procedures and, if necessary, ensure the safe evacuation of the young performers from the building.
The successful applicant has general theatre knowledge and previous childcare experience, is detailed-oriented, self-motivated, and a creative problem solver. Applicants should demonstrate effective communication, patience, and a strong sense of humor and maturity. A creative sense of play is a plus. This position must have a valid driver's license, reliable personal transportation, and a flexible schedule. A background check is required. Contract dates are August 20 - October 18.
Flexibility with schedule can be discussed if overlapping with the school year.
Housing is not provided for this position, local applicants only.
Compensation:
Compensation starts at $16/hour, determined on experience. Due to a Missouri State Statue exemption, seasonal employees are paid overtime at 1 1/2 times their rate after 48 hours worked in a given work week. All summer positions are paid biweekly on Fridays.
