The Goldfarb Center for Performing Arts at Western Illinois University will be a premier, state-of-the-art performance and educational facility in Macomb, Illinois. It will serve as both a teaching and learning facility and a cultural destination for the entire Western Illinois region, featuring rehearsal spaces, a fully flexible Studio Theatre, and a 870-seat multidisciplinary Great Hall.

We are seeking a sound and projections specialist to support a professional touring season as well as concerts and performances with the School of Music and the Department of Theatre and Dance. Opportunities also exist for livestreaming, recording, and mentoring students.

The team of the Goldfarb Center will work together to create a vibrant, exciting, and welcoming place for the live arts in Western Illinois.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Employees at this level oversee the sound, audio, video, and livestreaming operations and equipment of the various performance venues in the Goldfarb Center for Performing Arts and serve as the facility scheduler. This position also trains, schedules, and supervises audio and livestreaming operators as well as mentoring students interested in audio recording and livestreaming.

The work of this position requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, crawl, bend, reach, climb stairs and ladders, and lift up to 50 pounds. Requires the dexterity to grasp and twist objects. Requires ability to work in low light, and to focus at a distance and up close. Requires the ability to work at heights on catwalks, grids, ladders, and lifts.

WORK LOCATION: Macomb campus

APPOINTMENT: As soon as possible

ANNUAL WAGE: $40,000 - $50,000

1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Any one or combination totaling eighteen months (18 months) from the categories below:

A. Course work in arts, theatre, theatre management, music business, or a closely related field, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:

30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
Associate's Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months)
B. Work experience in technical operations of event production or closely related experience.

For a degree to be considered, it must be conferred from a regionally accredited degree-granting institution of higher education (or equivalent from an international accrediting body). The degree must be conferred at the time of application.
