STAGES St. Louis seeks Music Interns for the 2026 Season which includes three musical productions: The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Guys and Dolls, and Come From Away.

The STAGES St. Louis Internship Programs are designed to train the next generation of theatre professionals in the skills necessary to become successful and integral parts of the theatre community. We combine practical hands-on experience with the opportunity to work with and learn from seasoned theatre professionals. While immersed in the professional world, our interns gain in-depth knowledge and experience in their chosen areas to become well-rounded theatre practitioners.

The Interns will work directly with the productions Music Director, Director and AFM Musicians of each production. Duties for the Music Intern will include attending rehearsals, taking notes, and generally assisting the Music Director. The Intern will also have the chance to play accompaniment to limited amount of rehearsals when needed.

The successful applicant is detailed-oriented, self-motivated, works well in a fast-paced environment, and responds with flexibility to the needs of various collaborators and to rapidly changing circumstances. Applicants must be able to read music and play the piano and have experience accompanying singers. Experience with MainStage is a plus.
For Spelling Bee the candidate must be comfortable playing advanced musical theater style.

Contract dates are as follows:
- Spelling Bee: May 5 - 29
- Guys + Dolls: June 30 - July 24
- Come From Away: August 25 -September 18
Rehearsal hours are Tuesday through Sunday, 10am - 6pm in Chesterfield, Missouri. Tech schedule varies with afternoon/evening hours.
Flexibility with schedule can be discussed if overlapping with the school year.

Compensation:
Compensation is $15.00/hour. Due to a Missouri State Statue exemption, seasonal employees are paid overtime at 1 1/2 times their rate after 48 hours worked in a given work week. All summer positions are paid biweekly on Fridays.

Interns also receive two complimentary tickets for the run of the production.

Candidate Requirements:
To be eligible for consideration, applicants must:
- Be able to provide local housing in St. Louis for the duration of your internship.
- Be able to work 35 - 40 hours per week of internship.
- Have a valid driver's license and reliable personal transportation.
