This is a creative position that is best suited for a Theater or Art Major who understand the role of a Theater Technical Director in management and fabrication. (other key words: artist, drawing, carpentry, fabrication, scene shop, painting, design, leadership, management

REQUIREMENTS
-University degree in Theatre or Creative Arts
-Creative and artistic skills such as carpentry, cabinet making, drawing, CAD renderings, painting, sculpture
-Must have a good set of management skills including leadership, scheduling and human resources experience.
-Must be able to demonstrate strategic thinking and long term planning
-Must be a thinker + problem solver
-5 years of theater experience as a tech director with managerial responsibilities
-Or 5 years of experience in other creative fields such as TV, Movie, theme park production services with managerial responsibilities
- must have great leadership skills and the ability to work through other, delegating and assigning workload

Job description
DUTIES
* Equipment Maintenance
It all starts with our incredible inventory of theme props, scenery, stage sets, and event equipment. You will be responsible for the maintenance, repair and touching up of inventory before it goes out to a program. This may include touch up scenic painting or simply repairing a shipping box.
* Production Planning
Reviews programs in advance to prepare selected equipment or complete the fabrication of new elements, reviews staffing levels to ensure event operational needs are met. Leads discussions to review scheduled events and proactively avoid challenges.
* Equipment Fabrication
Much of our inventory is design and built in our shop. We have a full service wood shop and cabinet shop with a paint booth. When hired to design a program our designers come up with creative solutions to meet the clients goal, then we get into the shop to build the stage set, giant sign, 3D prop and the other elements needed to execute the program. Fabrication skills needed include general carpentry, painting, use of fasteners, table saws, etc, creativity/artistry and coming up with creative solutions. You will build elements as needed.
* Inventory Control and Maintenance
Once we build it, we store it in our warehouses on shelves organize with an alphanumeric numbering system and digital inventory data base. The design/sales team will draw from the inventory in the design/selling process and a Pick List with shelf locators will be printed that represents the final order and all that will be installed for the client. TD will manage, direct and engage in this process to assure correct order are loaded and installed
* Event Execution and Installation
Orders are pulled, checked and driven to the clients event site - often a hotel ballroom or school gym or corporate office lobby/conference room. Our team installs according to the develop floor plan, then at the end of the event, we bring it all back and return equipment to stock in the warehouse for the next client. Installation skills include general mechanical skills and basic carpentry. TD will pull and check orders as well as lead teams for installations.
* General Operations Management
TD must have good people skills, must be able to work with others who have different backgrounds, have a positive attitude, be a leader and motivator. In charge of equipment maintenance, facilitates maintenance and general operations. All equipment upon return to stop can be tagged in our system for repair or touch up and tracked in the computer prior to its next use. We rely on technology to help prioritize our workflow. The TD is a Lead Manager in our operation.
* Physical Requirement.
Must be able to safely lift, move, twist, use ladders and work with 50 - 75 pounds using material handling equipment
