$615/wk. Plus additional 20% compensation for opening weeks

The Gateway Performing Arts Center of Suffolk County is seeking a STAFF ELECTRICIAN/SPOT OPERATOR for its 2025 production of 42nd STREET. The Gateway is a professional non-profit theater located roughly 55 miles east of New York City on Long Island in Bellport, NY. A typical Gateway work week is 5 days. There are a few exceptions that are 6 days a week, Mainstage opening weeks, Haunt opening week, with additional compensation. Salary is negotiable, and on-site housing is provided. Gateway will also assist with transportation to and from its location in New York.

Staff Electrician Job Responsibilities include:
. Assist in maintaining a safe, secure, clean and organized -office, shop, work area, inventory, and storage spaces
. Loading in and changing over lighting and electrical elements for each production.
. Being a part of the run crew as needed for each production, spot op/deck electrician/board op.
. Assist the Lighting Supervisor in instructing and directing Overhire and Apprentices
. Loading, unloading, electrics trailers.
. Constructing lighting practicals on an as needed basis.

Staff Electrician Job Qualifications:
. Must have good communication skills
. Knowledge of Theatrical lighting fixtures.
. Ability to read plots and paperwork.
. Capacity to solve problems
. Maturity and understanding of the artistic process
. Ability to work independently and in collaboration with others
. Ability to prioritize, multi-task and work quickly and accurately with attention to detail
. Experience with rigging and fly systems a plus (hemp and counter-weight).
. Managerial or mentoring experience is a plus.
. Ability to safely lift 60+ pounds.
. Driver's license a plus

All Electricians will occasionally help in other areas of production on an a limited/as needed basis. Staff positions in all departments will be expected to promote a healthy and safe working environment.
