SUMMARY:
North Shore Music Theatre, a 1500 seat arena style theater, is seeking an A1 for two upcoming shows: Wizard of Oz and Grease. The position would start on June 16, 2025 and would terminate after closing performance duties on July 20, 2025.
Sound Board Operation:
Serve as the main Front of House Sound Board Operator during rehearsals and performances.
Mix live audio for large-scale musical productions featuring up to 30 actors and a full orchestra, balancing levels, and ensuring clarity and consistency.
Adjust audio settings in real-time to accommodate changes in the performance environment.
Audio System Setup and Maintenance:
Assist the Sound Lead and A2 in setting up and configuring sound equipment, including microphones, speakers, mixing consoles, and playback devices.
Troubleshooting of audio equipment to ensure optimal performance.
Ensure proper care and storage of audio equipment and accessories.
Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with the Sound Lead, A2, Sound Designer, Directors, and other production staff.
Attend and participate in all technical rehearsals, crew calls, technical notes, and performances.
Programming and Sound Design:
Programming the sound board for rehearsals and performances.
Collaborate with the Sound Designer to create and modify audio sequences.
Document soundboard settings and configurations for each production.
Safety and Compliance:
Adhere to all NSMT safety protocols and procedures
Ensure all audio operations comply with industry safety standards and regulations.
Expected Qualifications:
3-5 years of experience in live sound production, preferably in a theatrical setting, or equivalent experience.
Strong understanding of audio signal flow, acoustics, and sound system setup.
Proficiency with digital and analog sound equipment, including mixing consoles.
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to safely work on ladders and at heights (up to 25 feet).
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Audio Engineering, Sound Design, or a related field.
Experience with professional-grade digital audio consoles (DiGiCo preferred).
Familiarity with wireless microphone systems (Shure ULX and Axient experience a plus).
Experience with audio processing software (Lake Processing) and show control software (QLab).
Knowledge of networking protocols (Dante).
Experience with communication systems (Clear-Com Freespeak).
Familiarity with hearing assist systems.
