The Carpenter works under the supervision of the Technical Director to construct, assemble, and fabricate scenery, scenic elements, and props for productions. Using technical drawings and guidance from the Technical Director and Assistant Technical Director, the Carpenter ensures the timely and accurate completion of all assigned projects. This role requires ability to follow directions, attention to detail, and the ability to meet deadlines within a fast-paced environment. Move to Run Crew for the run of the show.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Scenic Construction: Build, maintain, modify, and repair scenery, props, furniture, and other scenic elements.
Theatre Setup and Strike: Pack, unpack, load, unload, set up, and strike materials, sets, and equipment for rehearsals and performances.
Stage Crew: Serve as stage crew during Tech and performances as needed.
Collaboration: Work with other carpenters to ensure all tasks are completed within the scheduled time frame.
Shop Maintenance: Maintain and repair scene shop tools and equipment.
Technical Assistance: Support the Master Electrician with hanging, cabling, and focusing the light plot; assist the Properties Master and Scenic Painters as needed.
Safety and Cleanliness: Maintain a clean and safe workspace.
Problem Reporting: Communicate any issues related to deadlines, materials, or equipment to the Technical Director or Assistant Technical Director.
Additional Duties: Perform other tasks as assigned by the Technical Director.

Skills and Qualifications
Proficiency with power and hand tools, as well as woodworking and carpentry techniques.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings (preferred).
Comfortable working on ladders and at heights exceeding 12 feet.
Effective communication skills for asking questions and sharing information.
Strong teamwork skills and the ability to work within a group.
Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and grow in the role.

Physical Requirements
This role involves bending, carrying, crawling, kneeling, lifting, working with loud noises, painting, sweeping, working outdoors, and in other physically demanding conditions. Applicants must be comfortable working nights, with sawdust, and in various environmental conditions.
