Haunt SFX Makeup Artist

Job Dates:
Starting Date Range: 9/16/2025 +ndash; 11/1/2025

Pay:
$650+/wk. B.O.E, Plus additional 20% compensation for Haunt opening week
Free housing
Travel reimbursement at beginning and end of contract

The Gateway Performing Arts Center of Suffolk County is seeking a SFX MAKEUP ARTIST for its 2025 HAUNT. The Gateway is a professional non-profit theater located roughly 55 miles east of New York City on Long Island in Bellport, NY. A typical Gateway work week is 5 days. Haunt opening week is 6 days, with additional compensation. Salary is negotiable, and on-site housing is provided. Gateway will also assist with transportation to and from its location in New York.

Everybody runs the haunt, most Makeup Artists are also in the Haunt Cast, there are a few non-cast support positions that may be available


Haunt SFX Makeup Artist Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assist in maintaining a safe, secure, clean + organized office, shop, work, and storage spaces
- Prep makeup shop daily for cast arrival for every haunt night
- Assist Lead Makeup Artist in creation of latex / silicone transfers
- Quickly and consistently apply airbrush makeup to multiple cast members based on provided Character Charts
- Prep makeup shop daily for cast arrival and apply makeup for +ldquo;Not-So-Scary+rdquo; Kids haunt
- Member of the Haunt Cast -there is some flexibility here

Qualifications:
- SFX makeup knowledge base
- Air brush proficiency - setup, use, troubleshooting, cleaning
- ability to quickly and consistently apply airbrush makeup to a large cast in limited time frame
- Transfers and prosthetic application a plus
- Must have good communication skills
