BROAD DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
Work with the production staff, performers, Dare to Dream Theatre Artistic Director, and volunteers to promote a positive and inclusive atmosphere of fun, teamwork, responsibility, and community within the organization.
Collaborate productively, positively and efficiently with the director, music director, stage manager, and other staff and volunteers to create a unified vision of the production and teach dance for ANASTASIA THE MUSICAL
Assist with the casting, scheduling, and other necessary duties to prepare for the production of the show. Some of the pre-production preparation may be completed remotely.
This includes: preparation (Late Spring/Summer 2026), auditions, (late April early May 2026) parent meeting (early May), rehearsals (mid May - end of July), and performances (July 30-August 8 2026)
BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Represent Dare to Dream Theatre through the knowledge, understanding, support, and demonstration of the core values in all activities associated with and aspects of the theatrical production.
Engage in active communications with the Production Staff, Board, committees, supporters, parents, and other groups as appropriate and necessary.
Demonstrate a high professional standard and dynamic through the demonstration of understanding and respect for diverse skill sets and ages.
Develop and teach choreography to performers of varying ages and skills for all production musical numbers as required and determined by the director.
Attend all meetings, rehearsals, and performances as scheduled.
Serve as a positive role model for all involved in the production and act in a safe and responsible manner.
Assist with audition workshop in late April and auditions in May. Participate in auditions/casting with other production staff members as determined by the Artistic Director and Board.
Work with the director and other production staff members to create and post a rehearsal schedule.
Assist to Identify a competent and qualified dance captain from within the cast, or identify substitute and/or coordinate scheduling arrangements with the director in the event of an absence or scheduling conflict with the rehearsal schedule.
If desired, assign and coordinate responsibilities/duties for interns.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Experience in teaching dance/choreography to children and adults. (Experience in the theatre industry - professional, educational, or community based - is preferred)
Excellent organizational skills and verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and keep projects on schedule.
Experience working with young people (6-12th grade) as well as adults.
Flexibility in working with a diverse group of volunteers and personalities.
Ability to work within electronic mediums: google doc, airtable, and email.
Commitment to embracing the mission and values of the Dare to Dream Theatre.
At least 18 years of age.
