The Contemporary American Theater Festival at Shepherd University is welcoming applications for the position of Projections/Video Engineer. CATF, a LORT D summer festival and leading producer of contemporary plays, is dedicated to telling diverse stories and developing new American theater. The festival premieres or produces multiple plays per season in three venues in rotating rep. The Video/Projections Engineer will work with 1-2 designers (1 per venue) to implement their vision of the productions (potentially incorporating a mixture of playback and live sources) in both fixed installation and reconfigurable theaters. They will be responsible for working alongside other engineers and/or overseeing 1-2 interns who will assist with system setup and and potentially serve as operators during performances.
Applicants should have experience working in fixed installation theaters as well as flexible spaces with temporary projection systems and should be comfortable with basic theatrical rigging and working at heights over 20ft (in lifts, ladders, or catwalks). Experience with Qlab and crew management is required. Experience with other playback software (such as Isadora or Watchout), equipment purchase and/or rental specification, and live streaming (using OBS or similar) is preferred.
Position is seasonal, from late-May to early-July, although an extension through early August may be available. All staff and interns are provided free air-conditioned housing within walking distance of the theaters and workspaces (also air conditioned,) 1-2 meals per day during tech, and free use of university gym, pool, and laundry facilities.
