Job responsibilities:
-Work independently to cut and construct, as well as alter, costumes based on instruction from Costume Shop Supervisor and Costume Designer
-Attend fittings to assist and take notes for Shop Supervisor and Designer
-Load-in and strike wardrobe for each production
-Assist with fabric dying, clothing and shoe repair, costume crafts, and wig maintenance
-Assist with general maintenance of the shop and show maintenance through the run
-Assist with supervision and instruction of costume intern through all phases of process
-Help guide costume intern with wardrobe paperwork and dresser duties, including quick-rigging and setting up of dressing rooms and quick-change areas
-Willingly assist other departments as needed including projects related to the well being and maintenance of our property
-Evening show duties are assigned as each show demands. These include helping in our patron parking lots, ushering, bartending, concessions, etc.
Skills:
-Understanding of theatrical practices
-Team-oriented attitude
-Excellent communication skills
-Ability to solve problems efficiently; excellent time management skills in a fast paced environment
-Advanced hand and machine stitching abilities
-Experience with quick-rigging and alterations
-Computer proficiency: word processing and spreadsheet skills
-Bachelor's degree in related field or commensurate experience
-1+ years professional experience in similar environment/position
Additional desired skills:
-Draping
-Pattern alteration
-Wig styling and maintenance
-Valid U.S. driver's license
Staff arrival date on campus is May 17th, 2026 with the first day of work commencing on May 18th 2026. Departure date is October 21st, 2026 which is after our final show ends and the property is closed down. An earlier departure date may be discussed as necessary.
The rate for this position is $550 - $650 per week, based on skills and experience. Travel stipend provided. All positions are housed on property, at no cost. Meals are provided at a cost of $95/week.
