Ideal candidate is available through the rest of the 2025/2026 Season (through June 30, 2026 with possible extension), but will entertain a shorter agreement as well).
The A.C.T. of CT season includes the following productions: ALMOST FAMOUS, FROZEN, and DEAR EVAN HANSEN.
Throughout the initial employment period, we will meet to evaluate performance and needs. Term may be extended upon mutual agreement.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Wig Assistant supports the Wig Supervisor/Designer in the preparation, maintenance, and execution of all wig, hair, and makeup elements for productions. This role ensures performer's wigs and hairpieces are performance-ready and maintains a professional standard of care throughout rehearsals and performances.
RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to):
- Assist with wig preparation, including setting, styling, and basic maintenance.
- Support wig application and removal for performers before, during, and after rehearsals and performances.
- Conduct regular upkeep of wigs, hairpieces, and facial hair (cleaning, restyling, and repairs as needed).
- Assist in quick changes and backstage wig/hair needs during performances.
- Track, label, and organize all wigs and hair accessories.
- Maintain cleanliness and proper storage of wig-related tools, supplies, and workspaces.
- Communicate with the Wig Supervisor/Designer regarding any repairs, replacements, or styling notes.
- Follow all safety and hygiene protocols when working with performers and equipment.
- Provide support for load-in, tech rehearsals, and strike of wig and hair departments.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Basic knowledge of wig and hairpiece handling, styling, and maintenance.
- Comfort working backstage in a fast-paced theatrical environment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, with professionalism when working with performers.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by production schedules.
