HUMAN is a one-hour, multigenerational stage play blending puppetry, myth, movement, and ancestral memory. Set in a post-apocalyptic oceanic world, the story follows a being named Nacci who proposes reviving humanity+mdash;with the help of an octopus willing to donate one of his three hearts. The production explores themes of memory, restoration, and what it truly means to be human.

Now entering its final development phase, HUMAN is preparing for a national tour as part of the National Performance Network+rsquo;s New Works program.

Confirmed timeline:
-March 2026 +ndash; Staged reading
-May 2026 +ndash; Technical residency (dates TBD)
-June 2026 +ndash; NYC premiere at The Shed, including a related public engagement event
-Fall 2026 onward +ndash; Touring engagements (contracted separately)

Post-premiere venues include:
-Sandglass Theater (Vermont)
-Brooklyn Academy of Music (NYC)
-The Clarice at University of Maryland
-Asheville Creative Arts (North Carolina)


About the Role:
We are seeking a highly organized, part-time Production/Tour Manager to support production infrastructure, design coordination, and early-stage tour planning from August 2025 through June 2026. This Position is mainly remote however, will require increased attention and in person time during design builds, deadlines, residency, and rehearsals.

Responsibilities:
-Ensure all aspects of pre-production and production are moving forward in a small and efficient and organized way.
-Coordinate and schedule meetings for the full design team (puppet, scenic, sound, costume, etc.)
-Maintain and update the master production calendar
-Liaise with the Artistic Director, Production Stage Manager, and Technical Director
-Track design deadlines, production milestones, and touring logistics
-Support planning for the staged reading and tech residency
-Coordinate the public engagement event in collaboration with The Shed
-Manage cloud-based production folders and documents
-Prepare and update technical riders and production specs for partner venues
-Assist with housing, transportation, and per diem planning for upcoming engagements
-Facilitate weekly or biweekly production check-ins across departments

Ideal Candidate:
-2+ndash;5+ years of experience in production management, stage management, or tour coordination
-Familiarity with technical documentation, design timelines, and build workflows
-Excellent communicator and timeline tracker
-Calm under pressure, with a solutions-oriented mindset
-Proficient with Google Drive, Zoom, shared docs, and budgeting tools
-Touring experience or multi-venue coordination is a strong plus
-Interest in puppetry, visual storytelling, devised work, or cultural and ritual performance is a plus
-NYC-based or Northeast preferred, but open to remote candidates

Compensation:
-$4,000 flat fee
-Paid in four installments of $1,000
-This contract covers the development phase through the NYC premiere at The Shed
-Touring dates beyond June 2026 will be contracted separately
