Description:
Wild Kratts Live is a children's theatrical production based on the popular PBS Kids animated television series Wild Kratts, starring Chris Kratt and Martin Kratt. The show plays one or two shows a day, with a load-in and load-out each day, typically followed by overnight travel to the next venue. This is a one-truck show with a fast-paced schedule.
The Head Carpenter is a management-level position and will be responsible for overseeing the local and touring crew, and the overall installation and run of all shows on the road. Crew management and leadership are important qualities to foster a safe, positive, and inclusive work environment on-tour. The Head Carpenter will work closely with the Stage Manager and Production Manager to coordinate local production staff, and manage labor calls for all work, load-in, show, and load-out calls. They will oversee all carpentry installation and strike, and conduct road repairs as needed. During shows they will run a deck track and supervise local labor on local deck tracks.

Responsibilities:
- Participate in production meetings/conference calls with tour staff in preparation for touring dates.
- Supervise touring crew and advise on personnel decisions.
- Work with Production Stage Manager on stage layout and venue-to-venue changes to best suit the production.
- Interface with local stewards and production staff about schedule, labor calls, and logistics.
- Lead local carpentry crew and oversee the build and installation of all scenery and props.
- Run a deck track during the show.
- Operate remote controlled robots according to choreographed sequences as part of the show.
- Supervise local run crew for deck cues and scenic transitions.
- Update and maintain show paperwork, including inventories, cue sheets, and deck crew information.
- Perform maintenance and conduct basic repairs scenic goods on tour as needed.
Qualifications:
- Prior touring experience required.
- Proficiency in carpentry and crew management.
- Familiarity with counterweight rigging, scenic goods, knots, power tools, small electronics.
- Comfortable with basic construction and props/scenic repairs.
- Experience with supervising IATSE crews and familiarity with basic union rules and working conditions.
- Effective communicator and diplomatic problem solver.
- Ability to maintain composure under pressure.
- Valid passport for travel in the US and Canada.
- Familiarity with Master Tour software a plus
Compensation:
Day rate: $350-450 D.O.E.
Per diem provided, some meals provided, accommodation and all travel costs are covered by the tour. Most dates are sleeper bus accommodation with hotels provided on select days depending on schedule and routing. All hotel accommodations are single occupancy.
