ABOUT THE POSITION
In collaboration with the Village Theatre production and artistic departments, and sound designers, the Head Audio Engineer serves as the primary audio engineer for all Everett runs of Mainstage productions and auxiliary events at the Everett Performing Arts Center (EPAC). The Head Audio Engineer, Everett will mix all EPAC performances and events, maintain all audio systems and equipment, and collaborate with and support other stage departments in executing production duties, including working with Production Management to implement system upgrades and enhancements as time and budget allow. The Head Audio Engineer is accountable for the load-in and setup of all audio needs for each production, working alongside the sound designer, music director(s), and production team. Village Theatre employs a +ldquo;line by line+rdquo; mixing style and seeks individuals who have experience with this mixing approach. Village Theatre+rsquo;s production department operates under a collective bargaining agreement with IATSE Locals 15/488/887.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
+bull; Prep, install, and maintain all audio systems for mainstage productions and auxiliary events at the Everett Performing Arts Center (EPAC), including wireless mic systems, onstage and orchestra pit monitors and systems, and console prep and programming.
+bull; Mix all performances and events to the highest audio standards. Shadow and run Performances at Francis J. Gaudette Theatre in Issaquah in preparation for productions+rsquo; transfer to EPAC as scheduled.
+bull; In collaboration with the Sound Designer and the Issaquah (ISS) Head Audio Engineer, develop sound performance materials, including scripting, console programming, and Virtual Sound Check (VSC) recordings (current sound board is Yamaha DM7.)
+bull; Program QLab for Village Theatre productions as directed by the Sound Designer.
+bull; Coordinate with lighting and projection departments for control system integration, including MIDI / OSC interfaces and other control systems. Run projections from the front-of-house sound computer as needed.
+bull; Lead the advancement of show sound designs to EPAC. Collaborate with the ISS Head Audio Engineer to facilitate the transfer of gear between spaces, including the return of gear post-closing.
+bull; Maintain and troubleshoot all EPAC audio systems, including upkeep, inventory, and repairs for wireless mics, amplifiers, speakers, console, and intercom systems. Coordinate all outside repairs with Production Management.
+bull; In collaboration with Production Management, make recommendations for system and capital improvements to the Village Theatre+rsquo;s Inventory or City of Everett purchases. Coordinate with other stage departments for show-specific items, including onstage monitors or other specialty equipment.
+bull; Coordinate with the Issaquah sound team and the wig and wardrobe departments regarding the proper usage and implementation of wireless microphones.
+bull; Attend production, transfer, and staff meetings as scheduled.
+bull; Supervise and train Lead Audio personnel, and over hire crew during strike, load-ins, transfers, performances, and events.
+bull; Develop and maintain rep plot and production materials for the EPAC venue in order to remain best prepared for auxiliary events.
+bull; Provide subject matter expertise to EPAC rental clients as needed.
+bull; Assist other production departments as time and production needs require.
+bull; Maintain a clean and safe workspace.
+bull; Install and troubleshoot any closed-circuit video and intercom.
+bull; Conduct annual scheduled building maintenance in EPAC and Cope Gillet Theatres.
+bull; Carry out other sound department duties and responsibilities as directed.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
+bull; Expert skills in audio engineering of musical theatre productions utilizing a +ldquo;line by line+rdquo; mixing style.
+bull; Expert ability to implement, troubleshoot, and maintain all audio systems, including wireless mics, digital consoles, speaker systems, and wired + wireless intercoms.
+bull; Proficient computer skills with specific knowledge of Microsoft Office, Dropbox, and audio platforms, including QLab, Mainstage, Dante, and Wireless Systems Manager (WSM.)
+bull; Mature, positive, and enthusiastic attitude towards the goal of providing the highest quality work possible in a mutually supportive environment.
+bull; Deliver outstanding customer service to Rental clients. Demonstrated ability to adapt and problem-solve in the moment.
COMPENSATION
The hourly rate for this position is currently $ 32 per hour.
Pay/ Benefits per collective bargaining agreement with IATSE Local #15 and Village Theatre. Vacation accrual, holidays, and sick time accrual per the CBA with IATSE Local #15.
