Job Title: Stage Operations Technician for The Play That Goes Wrong
Salary + Benefits:
$18.00 per hour (plus overtime after 40 hours)
Housing Provided
Department: Production
Reports to (Position): Production Manager, Technical Director
Works Closely with: Production Stage Manager, Assistant Stage Managers
Dates of Employment: July 7 - August 24, 2025
SUMMARY: Stage Operations Technician will prepare the stage and execute assigned cues for The Play That Goes Wrong focusing primarily on special effects called for in the production. They are responsible for operation of all assigned scenic moves and assisting in the maintenance and repair of all scenic elements. They lend support to the scene shop in the implementation, build, load-in, and strike of all scenic elements for the production if needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Attend room rehearsals as assigned to learn the intricacies of the production.
-Attend all onstage rehearsals, technical rehearsals and performances.
-Complete all assigned scenic moves in a safe, accurate, and timely manner during rehearsals and performances.
-Assist in coordinating the shifting and storing all scenic and properties elements.
-Perform pre show and post show duties as assigned with particular attention to special effect elements.
-Participate in daily/weekly inspection of all rigging and motorized scenic elements.
-Assist in the maintenance and repair of any damaged scenic elements and production equipment.
-Assist in the load-in, strike, and any notes for scenic elements.
-Maintain a clean, safe, respectful, and collaborative work environment.
-Exhibit interpersonal savvy, which includes relating comfortably to a variety of personalities, skills, and knowledge cultivating and maintaining positive relationships, employing discretion, diplomacy, and tact, seeking the positive in all situations.
-Comfortably and effectively cope with change and ambiguity, which includes effectively transitioning between tasks and timelines, identifying priorities and making good decisions with a minimum of information, and staying relaxed and proactive when things are uncertain.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
-Bachelor's Degree in theatre/related field, or degree in progress preferred.
-2-3 years experience working with scenery or in a backstage environment preferred..
-Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
