Goodspeed Musicals is looking for 2 Overhire Carpenters to help changeover from our current show Maggie to our upcoming show, A Christmas Story. Pay rate is $20/hour with OT after 40 hours. All work calls are listed below. When reaching out, please note which day(s) you are available!
Sun, 10/20 | 3 PM - 10 PM with one half hour unpaid meal break at 4 PM
(Pizza provided by Company Management)
Mon, 10/21 | 8 AM - 10 PM with two 60 minute unpaid meal breaks
Tues, 10/22 | 8 AM - 10 PM with two 60 minute unpaid meal breaks
Wed, 10/23 | 8 AM - 10 PM with two 60 minute unpaid meal breaks
Thurs, 10/24 | 8 AM - 10 PM with two 60 minute unpaid meal breaks

We also provide a paid 15 minute break every two hours with refreshments provided by our Company Management team.


General Statement of Job Function: The Overhire Carpenter is responsible for the safe, accurate, and timely construction of all scenic elements assigned to them by the Technical Director (TD) and/or Shop Foreman (SF).

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
Complete all projects assigned by TD, and/or SF in an efficient, safe, and timely manner, while maintaining a high standard of quality.
Ability to read, interpret, and build from construction drawings.
Participate in the construction, load-in, rigging, technical notes, and strikes of all scenic elements.
Participate in packing and transporting all scenic elements, tools, hardware, and materials required for all load-ins and strikes.
Maintain a safe, respectful, and collaborative work environment with a wide variety of coworkers at different levels of skill and knowledge
Ability to troubleshoot problems calmly and efficiently under pressure.
Understand construction methods and material choices for assigned projects.
Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications + Skills: Strong wood, metal, and finish carpentry skills; Up-to-date knowledge of welding, rigging, carpentry, and stagecraft techniques; Strong knowledge of all commonly used theatrical construction tools, including but not limited to: measuring and layout tools, portable and stationary woodworking tools, pneumatic tools, metalworking tools, welding equipment, rigging tools, machining tools, and cabinetry tools; Able to work long hours during heavy build and tech periods; Availability nights and weekends
Preferred Qualifications + Skills: Experience in Technical theatre; Valid driver+rsquo;s license with safe driving record; Ability to work comfortably at elevations of up to 45 feet; Comfortable driving a 26+rsquo; Box Truck.
