Job Title: Assistant Stage Manager

Rate: $17.50/hour plus overtime

Overview:
TheaterWorks Hartford (TWH) seeks a full-time non-union Assistant Stage Manager for the remainder of the 2024-2025 Season (and beyond). As a vital member of the production team of TheaterWorks Hartford, the Assistant Stage Manager coordinates backstage operations for all performances: maintaining communication with Stage Manager, Deck Chief, crew members, and performers ensuring readiness for all transitions, entrances, costume changes, etc. This includes, but is not limited to: daily rehearsal space and theater preparation, wardrobe preparation, tracking prop and costume presets, creating, maintaining and updating show-related Stage Management/Costumes/Props paperwork, and daily hospitality support. The Assistant Stage Manager is responsible for helping to ensure a safe acting/working space for actors and staff onstage and in the rehearsal room.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities +ndash; including but not limited to:
- Attend all pre-production, production, and staff meetings
- Work with Production Stage Manager (PSM) to prepare and maintain rehearsal space daily, including taping out the ground plan, hospitality (coffee, tea, water), cleanliness (including trash), safety, rehearsal props and supplies, prop tables, and production tables and seating
- Coordinate with Designers and Production Staff to pull rehearsal costumes, props, and furniture
- During rehearsals, track props and costumes, relay notes to PSM, execute line notes, create and maintain any necessary preset, tracking, and show run paperwork, assist PSM and support Creative Team and Actors
- Work with Director of Production and PSM to determine backstage crew needs and oversee and train incoming crew accordingly alongside Deck Chief (when applicable) emphasizing best practices and safety
- During performance runs, maintain cleanliness, stocking, and upkeep in backstage spaces including kitchenette, first aid kits, backstage wing space, and any urgent needs regarding dressing rooms and bathrooms
- During performances, maintain communication with Stage Manager, Deck Chief (when applicable), crew, and performers to ensure expertly executed transitions, entrances, quick changes, etc.
- Perform daily Wardrobe and Wig maintenance duties, as assigned by Costume Supervisor and Director of Production

Required Qualification + Skills:
- Minimum two years experience in Stage Management; experience on wardrobe crew or equivalent
- Bachelor+rsquo;s Degree or equivalent work experience
- Prior experience with theater rehearsal and production processes at the professional level
- (preferred) Valid driver+rsquo;s license
- Familiarity with Google Suite and/or Office Suite programs (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel) or equivalent
- Must be highly organized, with excellent oral and written communication skills, along with time management and people skills, and able to navigate different personalities and overlapping situations
- Ability to lift 30 lbs and stand on feet for long periods of time
