About Us: Laguna Playhouse, a nationally acclaimed, non-profit, professional theatre located steps away from the Pacific Ocean in the charming arts colony of Laguna Beach, CA seeks part-time Teaching Artists for their Theatre Training program Education and for Community Outreach Programs. Reporting to the Director of Education and Outreach, the Teaching Artist will be responsible for teaching classes, workshops and residencies.
About the Position: The Stage Manager will support the agency+rsquo;s Youth Theatre Production and director. Laguna Playhouse Education (LPE) employs skilled, experienced Stage Managers from diverse backgrounds to help create theatre. They will support a team of technicians and actors (ages 4+). The Stage Manager will organize and lead different teams involved in the day-to-day running of a youth theatre production from auditions to rehearsals through performances and then post-show. LPE Stage Managers help create and deliver high-quality productions and build an inclusive and creative experience for the students/participants we serve.

Qualifications:
Experience in Theatre Stage Management (especially with children and/or children with special needs) with an understanding of acting, storytelling, improvisation, design, etc.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; ability to work collaboratively in a school or community organization environment with various community members, and with Laguna Playhouse staff.
Work well with public and staff - have a commitment to diversity and proven ability to work effectively with persons of diverse backgrounds.
Able to interact positively across departments.
Ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks within identified timeframes.
Availability to work a flexible schedule that may include afternoons, evenings, and some weekends.
Dependability and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Bilingual (including ASL) is a plus.
Responsibilities:
Create a Prompt Script compiled with notes on Actor/Tech cues and requirements for props/lighting/sound/etc.
Set rehearsal schedules
Liaise with all theatre departments
Supervise the set/lighting/sound installation and call each tech and show
Work collaboratively with the production team +ndash; especially the production+rsquo;s director and Education Department Staff
Collaborate with the Education Department and Production Manager regarding budgets
Organize and lead student crew teams
Additional Requirements of the Position:
Employee may be asked to lift up to 15 pounds, stand/sit/kneel for long periods of time, work in dimly lit spaces.
Employees must pass a background check and required training.
