General: The Acting Company seeks a Wardrobe Supervisor (Wardrobe Sup) for their 2024-25 National Tour. The position serves as department head for the wardrobe department. The Wardrobe Sup joins the production during its design and rehearsal process in NYC while beginning the tour advance with the Production Manager (PM) and Technical Director (TD). The Wardrobe Sup will help tech the production at its regional presenting theatre with the rest of the technical tour staff. While on the road, the Wardrobe Sup oversees the costume maintenance, preshow, and post-show needs. The position also trains dressers and runs wardrobe tracks as needed. The Wardrobe Supervisor works intimately with the acting ensemble; as such, they should be able to handle issues with discretion, prioritize privacy, and value creating a comfortable work environment.

Company Information: The Acting Company (www.theactingcompany.org) is a fifty-year-old theatre company dedicated to developing artists and audiences through national repertory tours. This season+rsquo;s two show repertory will include August Wilson+rsquo;s Two Trains Running (directed by Lili-Anne Brown) and William Shakespeare+rsquo;s Comedy of Errors (directed by Devin Brain). The rep will rehearse in NYC, tech and run at a regional presenting theatre in January 2025 in Ventura, CA, before touring nationally from February 2025-May 2025 in a wide variety of theatrical venues from Kravis Center in West Palm Beach to American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco.

Responsibilities:
-Work with PM, TD, and Costume design team during design and pre-production process, helping to resolve issues of scale, budget, scheduling, design, and tour-ability of the production+rsquo;s costume design.
-Serve as primary wardrobe liaison between tour and venues, communicating complete and accurate information about the dressing room, dresser, and laundry needs to venue personnel during tour advance and adapting costume and wig needs to the available resources.
-Assist with costume load-in and notes during tech to prepare for putting the show on the road after its initial run.
-Prep, restock, and maintain wardrobe tour kit, including hair products.
-Assist in unloading and loading of truck, with an emphasis on wardrobe equipment.
-Supervise local crew with all maintenance and cleaning of costumes, duties including laundry, preset, spraying and deodorizing, steaming and pressing, basic repairs, wig maintenance, and dressing room set up.
-Run Wardrobe track during performances, as needed, serving as an A2 backstage for any issues with mic+rsquo;d actors (no mic switches planned).
-Coordinate and schedule actor hair appointments for hair maintenance as required by hair design.
-Ensure that all costumes and wardrobe equipment are fully repaired, maintained, cleaned, and packed for storage and the following tour.
-Process all returns of rented or borrowed wardrobe equipment at the end of tour.

Qualifications:
-At least 5 years of experience in wardrobe and/or dresser positions, or equivalent experience. Knowledge of basic hand stitching and sewing machines.
-Experience with basic wig maintenance.
-Experience with hair and makeup for diverse ethnic and racial backgrounds. -Able to lift up to 50 lbs., push/pull 100lbs, stand for extended periods of time (3+ hours), navigate multiple levels of stairs.
-Previous experience with theatrical touring or travel is a plus.
-A valid US driver's license is a plus.
-Must have NYC housing for pre-production weeks. Housing provided during Tech process and Tour.

--Remote work possible, hours flexible
--$27/hour

-January 2-18, 2025: Tech + Previews in Ventura, CA
--Wardrobe Sup begins full-time, onsite work for Tech and Tour Advance
--$1,175/week

-January 19-31, 2025: Tour Advance + Prep in New York, NY
--Wardrobe Sup advances tour with tour staff
--$1,175/week

-February 1-May 11, 2025: National Tour
--Wardrobe Sup works full-time on the road
--Dates include a final week post tour to pack the show, make returns, finish final paperwork
--$1,175/week

Salary:
$1,175/week while in production. Pre-production work will be paid on an hourly basis ($27/hr) as needed. The position is overtime exempt. Hotels and per diem provided on the road.
