General: The Acting Company seeks a Sound Supervisor (Sound Sup) for their 2024-25 National Tour. The position serves as the department head for the sound department. The Sound Sup joins the production during its design and rehearsal process in NYC while beginning the tour advance with the Production Manager (PM) and Technical Director (TD). The Sound Sup will help tech the production at its regional presenting theatre with the rest of the technical tour staff. While on the road, the Sound Sup is responsible for overseeing the installation, focus, and troubleshooting of the production+rsquo;s sound elements on a day-to-day basis. The Sound Sup will be a leader on the tour and must be dedicated to creating safe, open, and productive workspaces.

Company Information: The Acting Company (www.theactingcompany.org) is a fifty-year-old theatre company dedicated to developing artists and audiences through national repertory tours. This season+rsquo;s two show repertory will include August Wilson+rsquo;s Two Trains Running (directed by Lili-Anne Brown) and William Shakespeare+rsquo;s Comedy of Errors (directed by Devin Brain). The rep will rehearse in NYC, tech and run at a regional presenting theatre in January 2025 in Ventura, CA, before touring nationally from February 2025-May 2025 in a wide variety of theatrical venues from Kravis Center in West Palm Beach to American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco.

Responsibilities:
-Work with PM, TD, and Sound design team during design and pre-production process, helping to resolve issues of scale, budget, scheduling, design, and tour-ability of the production+rsquo;s sound design and package.
-Serve as primary sound liaison between tour and venues, communicating complete and accurate information about the sound plot to venue personnel during tour advance and adapting lighting needs to the available resources.
-Assist with sound load-in and notes during tech to prepare for putting the show on the road after its initial run.
-Prep, restock, and maintain sound tour kit.
-Assist in unloading and loading of truck, with an emphasis on sound equipment.
-Supervise local crew with setting up and troubleshooting all necessary sound equipment (speakers, mics, mixing boards, etc.)
-Review-and when necessary, adapt-cueing to each new space while maintaining the design.
-Run the sound board (mics and Qlab) for the shows, at the discretion of the stage manager and TD.
-Ensure that all sound equipment is fully repaired, maintained, cleaned, and packed for storage and the following tour.
-Process all returns of rented or borrowed sound equipment at the end of tour.

Qualifications:
-At least 5 years of experience as an A1 of live mixing of events with multiple microphones and singing, or equivalent experience.
-Able to lift up to 50 lbs., push/pull 100lbs, stand for extended periods of time (3+ hours), navigate multiple levels of stairs.
-Able to set up, troubleshoot, and use body mics in coordination with costumes.
-Previous experience with theatrical touring or travel is a plus.
-A valid US driver's license is a plus.
-Must have NYC housing for pre-production weeks. Housing provided during Tech process and Tour.

-August-October 2024: Pre-Production

-November 5-6, 2024: First Day of Rehearsal, Company EDI Training in New York, NY
--Company Introductions and EDI Training
--$27/hour

-November-December 2024: Tour Advance
--Sound Sup works hourly (~10-20 hrs/week), as needed for design process and tour advance
--Remote work possible, hours flexible
--$27/hour

-January 2-18, 2025: Tech + Previews in Ventura, CA
--Sound Sup begins full-time, onsite work for Tech and Tour Advance
--$1,175/week

-January 19-31, 2025: Tour Advance + Prep in New York, NY
--Sound Sup advances tour with tour staff
--$1,175/week

-February 1-May 11, 2025: National Tour
--Sound Sup works full-time on the road
--Dates include a final week post tour to pack the show, make returns, finish final paperwork
--$1,175/week

Salary:
$1,175/week while in production. Pre-production work will be paid on an hourly basis ($27/hr) as needed. The position is overtime exempt. Hotels and per diem provided on the road.
