800 per week

Responsibilities
-Working closely with the Wardrobe Supervisor, the Costume Shop Supervisor oversees the completion of constructed, pulled or rented costumes for the stage and helps supervise a costume staff.

-Attends meetings + fittings as necessary for production continuity.

-Manages staff time for payroll and budgeting purposes.

-Oversees shop supplies, especially stock fabrics, notions and materials.

-Manages shop equipment, including repairs, maintenance and replacement.

-Working closely with Designers, supervises the timely inclusion of fabrics + show specific materials into costume production.

-Acts as a liaison with Wardrobe staff for the smooth transition of the costumes from Shop to dress rehearsal.

-Supervises the timely completion of costume notes for each running production.

-Organizes, maintains and supervises Costume Stock, restock of the inventory; and the acquisition and return of rented pieces or wigs

-Demonstrates leadership in shop safety and shop spaces being left clean and in orderly condition.

-Administers the Costume Rental System.

-Performs other duties as assigned by Wardrobe Supervisor.

Qualifications
-Three years of demonstrated experience in management with a team oriented and collaborative attitude, and sensitivity to the artistic process. Experience in a professional costume shop is preferred, but career individuals with a graduate degree and equivalent work experience will be considered. Experience in Theatre in Education is a plus.

-Excellent organizational skills.

-Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Good at creative problem solving and troubleshooting. A sense of humor is essential.

-Thorough understanding of the costume design and construction processes and all the related aspects of the overall theatre production process. Knowledge of and general experience with theatrical design, draping, cutting, stitching and crafts.

-Solid working knowledge of costume materials including, but not limited to: fabrics, notions, crafts supplies and costume/fashion history

-Working knowledge of machinery and equipment used in the costume industry.

This position supervises Theatre Aspen Apprentices, mentoring and training emerging talent within the field. The willingness to collaborate, instruct and provide guidance is an essential requirement.
