As Sound Supervisor, you will manage and directly supervise media staff in load in, maintenance,operation, and strike all sound/media equipment and design needs for all productions. In conjunction
with the Production Sound and Media Designers, you are responsible for the realization of the sound and media design for the production. You are also responsible for:
+bull; Positive collaboration with directors, sound designers, production manager and technical staffthroughout the production process, including pre-season communication and season planning.
+bull; Inventory, repair and maintenance of all media equipment, cables, effects, power racks, speakers, microphones, and sound consoles.
+bull; Organization and purchasing of all supplies including mic dressing materials, effects, and any
other necessary equipment.
+bull; Planning and implementing all media equipment needs for each production, utilizing house systems as appropriate.
+bull; Clear communication and proper collaboration with other production departments regarding stage space and use, scheduling, and fly system needs for each production according to design
deadlines.
+bull; Obtaining any supplemental equipment through renting, borrowing, or purchase as needed; returning all rented or borrowed equipment at end of season.
+bull; Clear documentation and tracking of system configurations in cooperation with production Sound and Media Designers.
+bull; Patching assignments of the control console based on the paperwork generated by the Soundand Media Designers and the Engineers.
+bull; Setting-up, maintaining, and any needed repair of QLab playback system in multiple spaces.
+bull; Setting-up, maintaining, and any needed repair of ClearCom communication systems fortechnical rehearsals and performances.
+bull; Set-up and tear-down of tech tables and related ClearCom for technical rehearsals.
+bull; Coordination and scheduling of all sound crew calls and scheduling of all sound crew members.
+bull; Instruct sound engineers and sound interns in appropriate theatrical and live sound techniques;hands-on teaching is expected.
+bull; Training and supervising all production sound operators, including mic dressers, board operators, and mix engineers; proficiency expected on Yamaha M7CL or similar console. Sound Shop Supervisor will substitute for any crew absences including mix engineer.
+bull; Occupational safety and health of workers; safe facility and tool usage is critical.
+bull; Operational decisions as the head of media department, including management of media supply budget.
+bull; Safe operation, upkeep, and maintenance of sound shop, control booths, and storage facilities.
+bull; Attending production meetings, shop head meetings, designer site visits, and technicalrehearsals.
+bull; Schedule, coordinate, and lead changeover between repertory productions (including arrangement of orchestra equipment), in conjunction with Production Manager and other production departments.
+bull; Coordinate and lead the strike of all sound equipment for all productions within the Hope Rep season and restore all spaces and equipment to pre-production conditions in preparation for the academic year.
+bull; Managing shifting and competing priorities, exercising good judgment and discretion, and maintaining a positive attitude.
The 2024 Season consists of four productions including one theatre for young audiences production performed outdoors with limited lighting needs. The remaining three productions will take place on two stages.
