The historic Cape Playhouse in Dennis, MA +mdash; the theatre where Broadway goes to summer- is accepting resumes for a Shop Supervisor for our 2024 Summer Season which includes productions of +lsquo;Tick, Tick,...Boom!+rsquo;, +lsquo;Million Dollar Quartet+rsquo;, +lsquo;Beautiful: A Carole King Musical+rsquo;, +lsquo;Waitress+rsquo;, and +lsquo;The 39 Steps+rsquo;. The salary for this position is $700 paid weekly. Salary is based on a 40 hour scheduled work week, any hours worked after 40 will be compensated.
The Shop Supervisor is responsible for aiding in all elements of scenic engineering, construction, rigging, and helping lead load-ins and strikes typical of a traditional summer theater. The Shop Supervisor will also be responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of all shop tools and materials. They will ensure that the shop is organized, adequately stocked, and safe. They will work with the Lead Carpenter to determine and collect all tools/materials necessary for each changeover and ensure that they are returned back to the shop in a timely manner.
The Cape Playhouse values collaboration, hard-work, compassion, and creativity. Applicant must have excellent communication skills and be a team player. Ability to read drafts and follow plans is required. Experience in a professional shop is recommended. Experience in welding (MIG) is preferred. Shop Supervisor must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and perform physical activities such as, but not limited to, lifting, bending, standing, climbing.
The Shop Supervisor reports to the Technical Director. Position begins on the Cape on May 29th and ends on September 15th. There is some flexibility for start and end dates.
