ABOUT THE POSITION
In collaboration with other members of the paint shop and production staff, the Lead Scenic Artist assists the Charge Scenic Artist in the Supervision of the paint shop and is responsible for painting, sculpting, and finishing all the scenery that goes from our shop to our stages.

Typical Duties Include:

Assist the Charge Scenic Artist in running the paint shop
+bull; Perform the duties of the Charge Scenic Artist in their absence.
+bull; Lead the maintenance and upkeep of painting materials, tools, equipment, and spaces.

Paint Drops and Scenery
+bull; Layout art from scenic designers by gridding, projecting, or freehand layout onto scenic drops and flats.
+bull; Mix color to match renderings.
+bull; Apply paint using various scenic painting techniques as required by the renderings and prescribed by the Charge Scenic Artist.

Sculpt and carve scenic elements
+bull; Layout and carve in foam and other scenic materials from drawings and models.

Maintain a clean and safe paint shop and work environment
+bull; Properly handle, use, and dispose of all paint materials.
+bull; Clean and maintain paint equipment and tools.

Build and Maintain a Personal Investment in the Seattle Rep and our EDI work
+bull; Attend and participate in all-staff company meetings.
+bull; Attend and participate in Staff Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Training workshops


Minimum Qualifications:
+bull; Commitment to cultivating an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace via decisive action including consistently seeking out opportunities for self and community improvement in the areas of racial equity, accessibility, gender inclusivity, and cultural sensitivity.
+bull; 4 years of experience painting in a professional scene shop environment
+bull; Advanced knowledge of scenic painting and sculpting techniques
+bull; Advanced knowledge of scenic painting and sculpting tools
+bull; Knowledge of color theory
+bull; A demonstrated ability to work effectively as a leader, independently, and as a member of a team
+bull; Ability to work extended periods painting on surfaces overhead, on saw horses, on floor level, vertically and horizontally oriented
+bull; Ability to work with materials weighing up to 50lbs unassisted
