Apprentices report to the Production Manager and work under the daily supervision of the Scenic Charge or Props Supervisor as members of the production staff to implement all scenic paint and props needs for a season of programming in four distinct venues, an educational touring arm and special events. Apprenticeships are seasonal appointments, with the possibility of renewal for a second season, and are designed to create access to entry level jobs to assist young practitioners build skill and experience as they start their careers.
Responsibilities:
+bull; Works with the Scenic and Props departments throughout the production process to implement the scenic paint and props designs for all productions
+bull; Participate in the construction, rehearsals, load-in, performances, maintenance and strike for multiple shows in multiple venues as assigned
+bull; Attend production and department meetings as assigned
+bull; Participate in the upkeep and cleanliness of work spaces and maintenance of equipment and shop facilities in order to maintain an efficient and safe work environment

Qualifications:
+bull; Personable, positive and culturally competent team player who is committed to collaborating in a safe, friendly and inclusive work environment
+bull; Strong communication skills
+bull; Working theatrical knowledge in the Apprentice+rsquo;s area of focus - applicants should possess research and script analysis skills, basic scenic construction and scenic painting knowledge, including color mixing and paint techniques, and be adept at craft style projects.
+bull; Working knowledge of drafting software and ability to read drafting of ground plans, sections, and elevations
+bull; Comfortable with power and hand tools associated with work in the paint and props departments
+bull; Working knowledge of Microsoft and Google programs
+bull; Ability to work independently and complete tasks as instructed meeting deadlines
+bull; Valid driver+rsquo;s license with a clean driving record a plus, but not required for all apprenticeships
+bull; Ability to troubleshoot and adapt throughout the production process
+bull; Understanding of industry safety and OSHA regulations for live performances
+bull; Comfortable working at heights on ladders and lifts
+bull; Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and work in low light situations
+bull; A strong desire and commitment to personal learning and growing through hands on work opportunity and professional mentorship

This position is eligible for annual and sick leave, participation in company health, life, dental and vision insurance plans, as well as our 403(b) retirement plan. Rate of pay is $14.00/hour for 40 hours per week. Overtime, if incurred, will be paid at time and a half in this non-exempt position. Employment begins on 8/27/24.
