Seeking Costume + Prop Shop Assistant (Seasonal)
Cedar Point, one of the oldest amusement parks in the country, is looking for energetic, creative, driven staff for it's 2025 season. Each year, Cedar Point's Live Entertainment division produces over 15 productions including interactive/immersive shows, music reviews, cover bands, special events, and more! We are looking for talented and passionate individuals to be apart of our Summer production team.

Reports to: Costume Area Manager
Responsibilities:
This position is a shared position and will fill in on any team in the shop in need of assistance.
Assist in the following areas as needed: costume/prop construction, costume/prop receiving, workshop organization, wig styling, and laundry team.
fit, alter, and sew theatrical costumes alterations in a timely fashion.
Assist with fittings as needed.
Execute all alterations as requested.
Work on costumes from patterning, cutting, stitching, and finishings.
Communicate supply needs to shop leadership.
Maintain a neat workspace.
Maintain confidentiality related to company and production information.
Assist with load out and in of costumes.
Shadow dressers on production tracks.
Serve as stand in Production Dresser/Prop Crew in emergency situations.
Periodically deliver costumes/props to venue from shop, extensive walking is involved.
Operate Domestic sewing machines and industrial/domestic steamers and irons.
Communicate daily needs with shop management.
Accurately track and manage show costume inventory/stock.
Coordinate with shop leadership for overall success of production.
style wigs and headpieces as needed.
Build, alter, and repair theatrical props in a timely fashion.
Organize and clean all prop shop areas, stock areas, and creation stations.
Assist in completion of show notes.
Accurately track and manage Prop Shop supply inventory/stock.
Load in and out of props at venues.
Ensure the longevity and integrity of production props.
Adhere to and uphold Shop + Park policy.
Adhere to safety standards with PPE. Mandatory adherence.
Work in tight areas may be required from time to time.
Be able to pivot and change direction on projects in a professional manner, still maintain high standards of production quality.
Assist with product receiving and organization.
Mentored directly by in-house Designers.
Uphold high levels of organization.
Willing to take constructive criticism and be open to learning new methods.
Must be able to work nights, mornings, weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
Any other duties deemed necessary by management pertaining to the Costume/Prop and Performance department.

Knowledge + Experience:
Must be actively pursuing or have obtained a Bachelor's degree in Theatrical Costuming, properties or related field of study; or any equivalent combination of relevant background and work experience.
Minimum of 1-2 years professional costume/prop shop experience in theatrical setting.
Skill:
Maintain positive attitude, high level of organizational, communication, problem solving skills and ability to work well in a fast paced environment and meet deadlines.
Expertise in theatrical costume construction preferred, hand and machine sewing experience required.
Strong knowledge + understanding of wardrobe practices/principles.
Ability to work with paper patterns.
Strong wig styling skills preferred.
1 year of prop construction is preferred.
Prior Prop/scenic painting and texture work experiences preferred.
Some experience with thermoplastics, foam construction, and carving preferred.
Basic knowledge + understanding of prop construction practices/principles preferred.
Ability to follow and maintain construction shop safe practices.
Ability to construct and alter theatrical props using Cedar Point techniques and guidelines with provided training.
Willingness to learn operations of Industrial equipment.
Knowledge of construction techniques and use of materials, interlinings, and interfacings in manufacturing of garments preferred.
Ability to construct and alter theatrical costumes using Cedar Point techniques and guidelines with provided training.
Must be able to take instruction in a professional and positive manner.
Must be able to work in a team environment and maintain a professional work ethic.
Must be able to multitask on several projects and productions at the same time.
Must be able to work in a collaborative environment.
Will be required to pass a sewing test.
