JOB DESCRIPTION
The Sound Assistant shall work alongside professional sound, Equity and non-Equity theater personnel. They shall perform each and every duty and obligation with due diligence and to the best of their knowledge, skill, judgment and ability. The Sound Assistant is expected to devote such amounts of time, energy and skill as may be necessary to perform the duties required hereunder. Hours are dependent on tech rehearsal and performance times, and include nights and weekends.
Opportunities, duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Working and coordinating with the Sound Designer, Sound Board Operator, Artistic Director, Music Director, Stage Manager, TD, and other theater staff
Installing and striking sound equipment for each production, along with the designer or other techs
Preparing all mics for casts and musicians; mic checks for all performers before each performance
Assist with the set-up of Clearcom/communications devices
With Sound Designer/Technician, trouble-shooting sound issues and resolving mic issues in real time during performances as well as when theater is dark
REQUIREMENTS
Ability to pay attention and follow verbal and written directions.
Working knowledge of sound board equipment (Yamaha Q5), a variety of speakers, monitors, microphones, and communication equipment (Clearcom) is a plus. Video knowledge is also helpful.
Ability to problem solve quickly.
Cultural competency. The ability to interact with people of different cultures and socioeconomic backgrounds effectively with understanding and tolerance.
REPORTS TO: The Sound Assistant +ndash; A2 reports directly to the Sound Designer, Sound Board Operator and the Equity Stage Manager. Final employment authority is with the Producer and Artistic Director.
COMMITMENT: This is a non-union position running for the productions Beautiful and The Prom (Subject to change). It is a temporary seasonal, part-time, hourly position. It is possible to hold this position for more than one production per season. Each production contract runs 4 weeks in length.

COMPENSATION: Starting at $15/hour, plus 2 comp tickets, bus pass, company doctor support and gym membership. Compensated for overtime. Lodging available upon request. Inquire about Internship Opportunities.
