ABOUT THE POSITION
In collaboration with creative team, production and artistic departments, sound designers and directors work as a primary audio engineer for all Mainstage productions at the Francis J. Gaudette Theatre. Head Audio Engineer will mix all performances, maintain all audio systems and equipment, and collaborate with and support other stage departments in the execution of production duties. Village Theatre incorporates the +ldquo;line by line+rdquo; mixing style of many Broadway musicals and is interested in individuals who have experience in this style of mixing. Load in and set up all audio needs for each production in collaboration with sound designer, music director(s) and production team. Support audio engineers working in other Village Theatre venues / programs and provide expertise and leadership to the audio department. Work with Production Management to implement system upgrades and improvements as time and budget allow. Village Theatre+rsquo;s production department operates under a collective bargaining agreement with IATSE Locals 15/488/887.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
+bull; Prep, install and maintain all audio systems for Mainstage productions at the Francis J. Gaudette theatre including wireless mic systems, onstage and orchestra pit monitors and systems and console prep and programming
+bull; Mix all performances maintaining highest audio standards per the design of the show and in collaboration with design and creative team and Artistic and Production management.
+bull; In collaboration with Sound Designer, develop sound performance materials including script and console programming.
+bull; Program QLab and audio console as directed by Sound Designer.
+bull; Maintain and troubleshoot all audio systems including wireless mics, amplifiers, speakers, console and intercom systems.
+bull; Make recommendations for system improvements and collaborate with Production Management for capital improvement plans.
+bull; Coordinate with other stage departments for show specific items including onstage monitors or other specialty items.
+bull; Coordinate with lighting and projection departments for control system integration including MIDI interfaces and other control systems.
+bull; Coordinate with costume, wig and wardrobe departments regarding proper usage and implementation of wireless microphones
+bull; Attend all production meetings and departmental staff meetings as scheduled.
+bull; Supervise overhire audio personnel as needed.
+bull; Assist other production departments as time and production needs require.
+bull; Support and advise other audio engineers in Village Theatre venues and programs. Provide subject matter expertise as needed.
+bull; Carry out other duties and responsibilities as directed by Production Management.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
+bull; Expert skills in audio engineering of musical theatre productions utilizing a +ldquo;line by line+rdquo; mixing style.
+bull; Expert ability to implement, troubleshot and maintain all audio systems including wireless mics, digital consoles, speaker systems and wired + wireless intercoms.
+bull; Proficient computer skills with specific knowledge of Outlook, Word, Excel, calendar, and audio platforms including QLab and Mainstage.
+bull; Mature, positive, and enthusiastic attitude towards the goal of providing the highest quality work possible in a mutually supportive and convivial environment.
+bull; Supervise and direct over-hire audio personnel occasionally.
COMPENSATION
Hourly rate for this position ranges between $ 28.75- $31.00 per hour.
Pay/ Benefits per collective bargaining agreement with IATSE and Village Theatre. Vacation accrual, holidays, and sick time accrual per the CBA with IATSE.
