Miami New Drama is looking for an Assistant Master Electrician for its upcoming production of LAS AVENTURAS DE JUAN PLANCHARD.
AME will also serve as board operator for the show run.
The Assistant Master Electrician plays a vital role in the execution of lighting designs and the overall electrical operations of our productions. Working under the guidance of the Master or Head Electrician, the AME will assist in the setup, maintenance, and operation of lighting equipment to ensure seamless performances collaborating closely with the lighting team and other technical departments to achieve the desired visual effects and create immersive experiences for our audiences. This position requires a strong understanding of theatrical lighting techniques, electrical systems, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
Assist the Master Electrician in all aspects of lighting production, including equipment setup, focus, and programming.
Follow lighting plots and cues to ensure accurate execution of the designer's vision during performances.
Assist in the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of lighting fixtures, control consoles, dimming systems, and associated equipment.
Collaborate with the lighting team to install and maintain lighting instruments, cables, and accessories.
Work closely with the scenic and stage management departments to coordinate the integration of lighting elements into the overall production.
Participate in load-ins, load-outs, and changeovers of lighting equipment for various productions and events.
Ensure adherence to safety protocols and regulations during all electrical operations.
Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends in theatrical lighting.
Requirements:
Prior experience working in a theater or live event environment with a focus on lighting is preferred.
Sound knowledge of lighting equipment, control systems, and rigging techniques.
Familiarity with lighting console operation, such as programming cues and creating effects.
Understanding of electrical systems, including power distribution, circuiting, and grounding.
Proficiency in using lighting software and computer-aided design (CAD) programs is advantageous.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with tight deadlines.
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills to address technical issues effectively.
Excellent organizational and communication skills to work efficiently with the production team.
Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on production schedules.
A degree or certification in theater production, technical theater, or a related field is desirable but not mandatory. Relevant work experience will also be considered.
