Description of Duties:
Wild Kratts Live is seeking an experienced audio technician with video experience who has touring experience, is a team player, and works well under pressure, for their 2023-2024 season.
Wild Kratts Live is a children's theatrical production based on the popular PBS Kids animated television series Wild Kratts, starring Chris Kratt and Martin Kratt. The show is performed either once or twice a day, with fast paced load-ins, shows, and load-outs. The show includes 2 actors with vocal microphones, audio/video playback from qLab, two projectors, and a variety of support equipment. The show carries only microphones and playback, and relies on house audio, so ideal candidates for this position would have experience with digital and analogue consoles, and comfortable on a number of different platforms. Audio and video equipment is a mixture of tour-owned, rental, and local gear.
Tour Dates:
September 10 to 17, 2023 (may be required to work on September 18)
September 19 to 25, 2023
October 17 to 23, 2023
November 14 to 20, 2023
March 5 to 11, 2024
April 30 to May 6, 2024
May 29 to June 3, 2024
Responsibilities:
- Communicate advance details and logistics with Touring Production Manager to ensure understanding of touring and local audio/video systems.
- Mix show and program qLab during technical rehearsals.
- Create and maintain script with cues and document track for future crew members.
- Execute audio cues during performances.
- Mix vocal microphones with music, sound effects, and videos during shows.
- Run load-in and load-out of audio and video equipment, and supervising local union and non-union crew.
- Tune audio and video equipment prior to the start of each show, including projector focus, microphone EQ and monitor levels, sound and video checks.
- Perform maintenance and conduct basic repairs of audio and video equipment on the road as
needed.
Qualifications:
- Touring experience (Theatrical/Musical preferred)
- Basic proficiency with audio and video in qLab 4
- Troubleshooting skills and experience working with different audio systems control surfaces.
- Experience with IATSE crews and basic Union Rules and working conditions
- Experience with Panasonic projectors a plus (experience with ultra-short throw lens systems
especially a plus)
Compensation:
Day rate: $200-225
Per diem provided, some meals provided, accommodation and all travel costs are covered by the tour. Some dates are bus and not hotel accommodations depending on schedule and routing. All hotel accommodations are single occupancy.
