+bull; High Point University invites applications for an open full-time staff position as Hayworth Fine Arts Center Assistant Facilities Manager and Lighting and Sound Supervisor. This position works closely with the Theater, Dance, and Music Departments, and as such, should be well-suited in character and temperament to a liberal arts environment. This is a 10-month appointment.

QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
+bull; Minimum BA or BFA in Theatre Technology or equivalent experience (see below) required.
+bull; MFA preferred.
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
+bull; Bachelor+rsquo;s Degree plus minimum 2 years experience in professional theatre, otherwise, minimum 5 years experience in professional theatre in at least two fields (lighting, sound, video, rigging, stagehand/road crew) required.
+bull; Previous employment in Higher Education preferred.
+bull; Training and/or experience in the following areas are required: sound engineering, entertainment electrical work, rigging and counterweight systems, video signal routing and patching, and computerized drafting.
+bull; Experience with operating video switching and computer equipment required.
+bull; Experience and understanding of moving lights, lighting consoles, digital sound consoles, and DMX programming required.
+bull; Experience with projections is a plus.
+bull; Knowledge and/or experience with lighting/sound design preferred.
SKILLS:
+bull; Working knowledge of ETC lighting consoles.
+bull; Proficient use of both PC and Mac computers.
+bull; Basic understanding of OSHA regulations and theatrical safety issues and requirements.
+bull; Highly organized and detail oriented.
+bull; Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Provides technical support for all School of Art and Design (SOAD) events, including, but not limited to:
+bull; Theater and Dance Department mainstage and black box performances
+bull; Music Department choral, symphony, and orchestra performance
+bull; Events directly related to SOAD curriculum and/or experience
Assists facility manager with inspection and maintenance of lighting, sound, projection, and rigging systems.
Oversees Theater Practicum students in the electrics shop
Assumes the role of head electrician for the Theater and Dance Department
Maintains inventory of lighting and sound equipment
Mentors students that show potential for lighting and/or sound design
Communicates purchasing needs for the Theater and Dance Department to the production manager
Maintains a positive and collaborative work environment for students, faculty, and staff
Provides additional support to facility manager as needed.
Potential to design lighting or sound for some theater productions.
