As Props Head, you will manage and directly supervise props staff to pull, shop, construct, and maintain all rehearsal and production properties for Hope Rep season. In conjunction with Scenic Designer, you are responsible for the realization of the properties and set dressings for the production, as well as their maintenance throughout the production run. You are also responsible for:

Positive collaboration with directors, scenic designers, and technical staff throughout the production process, including script analysis and prop research.
Clear communication and timely collaboration with stage management regarding rehearsal and production props, including transport of props to rehearsal facilities.
Safe operation, upkeep, and maintenance of dedicated props shop, including tools, supplies, and multi-location props storage.
Maintenance of an accurate and current props list for each production.
Clear communication and proper collaboration with other production departments regarding cross-over props.
Organization and purchasing of all prop consumables including food, paper products, and other items as needed per production.
Obtaining and returning any borrowed or rented props.
Coordination and scheduling of all props crew calls and scheduling of all props crew members; general training and mentorship of props staff and intern.
Occupational safety and health of workers and operational decisions as the head of the props department, including management of props supply budget.
Scheduling, coordinating, and leading of changeovers between repertory productions, in conjunction with Production Manager and other production departments.
Attending production meetings, shop head meetings, designer site visits, and technical rehearsals.
Coordinating with Assistant Props Master regarding maintenance of all properties and set dressings during run period, and consulting on strike and restoration procedures.

You must be able to demonstrate proficiency in construction, crafting, sewing, painting, research, and design skills. You must be able to work safely, independently, and efficiently. You must exhibit a positive attitude, good creative problem solving skills, a desire to see projects through to completion, and be able to work in an active, fast-paced environment. You should exercise a high level of organization, time management, and excellent communication skills.

Contract includes housing (private room in a house with shared living space), and access to discounted meals on campus.

The 2024 Season consists of four productions including one theatre for young audiences production performed outdoors with limited lighting needs. The remaining three productions will take place on two stages.
