STITCHER POSITION

The Phoenix Theatre Company, a LOA LORT D Theatre and the largest professional regional theatre in AZ, seeks a year-round Stitcher- Salary + Benefits Staff Position.

Located in the heart of downtown, our beautiful 14-acre campus includes three theaters, a restaurant and bar, rehearsal halls, production shops all on one site.

We produce a wide range of theatre, from full-scale musicals to comedies, dramas and original new work. Some of the exciting shows this season include: Beautiful, Cabaret, Elf, Lady Day, The Lehman Trilogy and What the Constitution means to me.

The Phoenix Theatre Company produces shows in both a 380 seat proscenium space and a 250 seat black box space, for a jam packed versatile season.

The Phoenix Theatre Company developed and operates within a robust Covid safety system. These rules and regulations are regularly updated based on the latest AEA and CDC guidelines.

Job Description
The primary responsibility of the Stitcher is to stich and finish all assigned costumes while maintaining the vision of the costume designer within the necessary time constraints.

Essential Duties + Responsibilities
Discusses assigned projects with Costume
Designers and Costume Shop Manager/ cutter draper.
Sews assigned costumes by hand or machine.
Helps in the supervision of the Costume Shop volunteer apprentice and overhire technicians.
Facilitates the construction and alteration of costumes on a scheduled deadline
Tailors or alters costumes, as needed.
Assists costume fittings as needed and work to maintain the integrity of the costume design.
Assists in the restocking or reorganization of costume warehouse and other storage areas.
Works with the Costume Shop Manager to ensure all production deadlines can be met.
Assists with cleaning and maintaining shop equipment.
Assists with stocking and monitoring costume shop supplies by communication with shop manager.
Maintains a safe working environment based on OSHA standards.
Maintains The Phoenix Theatre Company production integrity.
Executes costume crafts as needed.
Support the wardrobe team in notes, repairs and strike when necessary.
Helps prepare fabrics for built garments/cutting.

Minimum Qualifications
A degree in costume technology/fashion or equivalent experience in regional/professional theatre or related fields.
Excellent garment construction skills
Able to follow precise directions in a timely manner
Willingness to adhere to the production standards of The Phoenix Theatre Co.
Basic computer skills
Strong Organizational, multi-tasking, and time management skills
Ability to work in a diverse team and under strict deadlines

Physical / Mental Demands + Working Conditions
General office, costume shop and theatre work environment
Evenings and weekends are sometimes required
Ability to lift 40lbs.
